TROMP Repertoire Days 2023, Liszt Ferenc Academy, Budapest, Hungary

13 to 15 February, 2023

TROMP is very pleased to announce that the next edition of the Repertoire Days, will be held at the prestigious Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary from 13th to 15th February 2023.

Opening concert of the event will be held by Dominique Vleeshouwers on February 13th 19:00h.

Dr. Ir. Theo Tromp founded the Tromp Biennial in Eindhoven in 1970. His intention was to provide new opportunities and stage for young percussionist from around the world. Over fifty years later, the TROMP International Percussion Competition has become a leading competition for percussionist in the world. Investing in the future careers of the winners, TROMP provides various concert engagements in internationally acclaimed concert halls and festivals, both solo and with prestigious international ensembles.

TROMP Repertoire Days offers the possibility to percussionist students to attend master classes led by jury members and laureates in various locations throughout the world.

Participants in the Repertoire Days get a chance to study the competition’s (TROMP International Percussion Competition) repertoire together, as well as other solo repertoire. Editions have been held in the USA, China, Russia, Brazil, Japan, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands.

There are 25 places available for active participants for the Repertoire Days. Places are given on a first come first served basis. Successful applicants will be notified after the closing date.

TROMP Repertoire Days 2022, Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, UK

In 2022, a new edition of the TROMP Repertoire Days at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, will be held on February 7, following to the annual Day of Percussion @RNCM on February 6.

TROMP winner Kai Strobel will be joined by TROMP 2022 jury president Arnold Marinissen from The Netherlands for presenting the upcoming TROMP edition in November in Eindhoven.

They will zoom in on the competition repertoire in clinics and masterclasses. Besides, they will give information and tips about how to prepare yourself for the competition.

The program takes place all day on 7 February.

TROMP offers the possibility  to attend master classes by jury members and laureates in various locations throughout the world in the Repertoire Days. Participants in the Repertoire Days get a chance to study the competition’s repertoire together, as well as other solo repertoire. Masters in previous editions: James Wood, Christian Dierstein, Arnold Marinissen, Peter Prommel, Dominique Vleeshouwers, Alexandre Esperet and Yi-Ping Yang among many others.

The 2018 edition of the Amsterdam Marimba Weekend payed special attention to TROMP, prior to the application deadline of 1 May. The program featured a master class by Alexandre Esperet, winner of the TROMP 2012 competition, in collaboration with TROMP. The AMW issued a special invitation to participant Shingo Takase for the best performance of solo marimba repertoire in the 2nd Round of the TROMP 2016 competition. He will be performed in the concert of Saturday evening. Other performers and educators at the AMW included Leigh Howard Stevens, Daniele Di Gregorio, Marco Pacassoni and Mamadou Diabate.
