TROMP @ Piet Hein Eek: Ramon Lormans

Woodworkshop Piet Hein Eek

€ 15

The concerts in Piet Hein Eek's wood workshop have become a tradition in the TROMP festival in the recent editions. This time with music written for the wooden keys of the marimba and for TROMP laureate Ramon Lormans. Since winning the third prize in the competition in 2006, Ramon is a celebrated guest in the TROMP festival and in the international percussion field. He is known as a marimbas specialist, is principal marimba teacher at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, gives master classes all over the world and last year he was invited by world famous marimbist Keiko Abe for a joint tour through Japan.

In projects with s t a r g a z e and TEMKO, Ramon is at the forefront of new music, surrounded by a new generation of talented composers and artists. In the past few years he inspired them to write new repertoire for marimba, with some of the pieces now being played by participants in the competition, like Solo for marimbaby Aart Strootman and An Index of Woodby Anthony Fiumara. Ramon recorded an album in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven in which he performs the works written for him. The TROMP festival and Piet Hein Eek's wood workshop provide the ideal opportunity for the presentation of this new marimba album.
